Basem Amer's Pizzaria: A Unique Blend of Branding and Packaging

Award-winning design inspired by the authenticity of Italian homemade pizza

Basem Amer, an art director and illustrator, embarked on the Pizzaria project in March 2018 in Cairo and brought it to completion in June 2018. The design was inspired by the brand's desire to reflect the authenticity of their Italian homemade pizza recipe and ingredients. Amer used a postal theme to symbolize that the pizza is made in Italy and then 'mailed' to the customer through delivery.

The Pizzaria packaging design is unique in its use of the postal theme, a concept Amer believes has not been used in a pizza brand before. The design's strength lies in its ability to communicate the brand's commitment to authentic Italian pizza, creating a visual narrative that the pizza is made in Italy and then delivered to the customer.

The design was realized using a brown carton box, with technical specifications of a 35cm x 35cm regular pizza box. The design's tags include 'Pizza', 'package', 'box', 'postal', and 'Italian', reflecting the key elements and inspirations of the design.

The Pizzaria packaging design was awarded Silver in the A' Packaging Design Award in 2019.
